Smoked Spicy Margarita

Today’s cocktail is none other than the Smoked Spicy Margarita.

1.5 oz. Mezcal
1 oz. Cointreau
0.5 oz. Homemade Sour Mix
1 oz. Jalapeno Serrano Simple Syrup
Shake all over ice
Strain into a margarita glass rimmed in Tajin, and throw some fresh jalapenos on that bad boy!

Jalapeno Serrano Simple
2 fresh jalapeno peppers
2 fresh serrano peppers
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
I like to dissolve the sugar in the water, and bring it ALMOST to a boil, then toss in the peppers and seeds, and let them boil on medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, and remove them from the heat for another 5-10 minutes, depending on how spicy you want, then strain off the solids and enjoy.

Review: I’m biased, because I love peppers. This is one of my personal favorites, and the spicy margarita with regular tequila is a staple at our house. You can definitely play with the amount of simple to get that perfect taste for you. The mezcal I bought is super-smoky, so I found the blend to be very refreshing.

Enjoy! See you next time. =]
