Named after the age old saying, “Hit me again!” this cocktail is something you can have multiples of, and not feel too crazy after a few. Always best to be able to drink more than one or two. That shows that it isn’t just a lot of liquor up front, and that it gets you drunk slowly and painlessly. =p
The picture may not tell you much, but this cocktail is very unique. It had a lot of flavors that blend quite well, but the chocolate notes really dominated, believe it or not.
Not a whole lot to say for this cocktail that its components won’t tell you, so let’s dive right in!
Hit Me Again
1.5 oz. Light Rum
0.75 oz. Lime Juice
0.12 oz. Green Chartreuse (1/2 of a quarter oz., just enough to give it those subtle herbal notes)
0.25 oz. Creme de Cacao
0.33 oz. Simple Syrup
Shake all ingredients over ice
Strain into chilled cocktail glass
Garnish with a mint leaf (optional)
Review: As I mentioned above, the Creme de Cacao really comes through strongly, despite its minor role. I would dare say you could use vodka instead of rum, and let the flavors take over. The rum does add a sweetness, but I feel that you get plenty of that from the simple and chocolate, so you could do without it.
If you make one, let us know in the comments, or back over on facebook.
Enjoy! See ya next time.
