I love puns. I also love making good drinks. This cocktail allows me to combine my dry sense of humor with not-so-dry, tasty ingredients. In this particular case, blueberry cardamom simple syrup and elderflower. We’ll talk more about it below, but right now, let’s take a look at HOW we make it.
Highway to Helderflower
1.5 oz. Bourbon
0.75 oz. Elderflower Liqueur
0.5 oz. Lemon Juice
0.5 oz. Blueberry Cardamom Simple Syrup
4 dashes of Angostura bitters
Shake all ingredients over ice
Strain into a chilled coupe glass
Garnish with Pomegranate Foam
Review: This cocktail has just enough things playing off the bourbon. You could probably cut out some of the lemon juice, since the cocktail foam has citrus in it. The elderflower and the cardamom instill a beautiful amount of earthiness, while the blueberries give a crispness to the cocktail, as they are not naturally the “sweetest” berry. The choice of bourbon is also important, because you want something that you are going to still be able to taste behind all those other flavors. All in all, I am pleased with this, and I have had another two since the time of this photograph.

Enjoy! See ya next time.
