We created this drink for a wedding we had at the end of May, and it was perfect for the summer theme we were going for with the seasonal menu.
The bride of the wedding actually named it “Altar-ed State of Mind” for her event, so shout out to her. The original name was “As Drank by Ginger,” after the cartoon As Told by Ginger, but I think they are both fair names.
Here’s what we did to it —
Altered State of Mind
1.5 oz. Ginger-infused Vodka (recipe below)
1 oz. PAMA
1 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. Lemon Juice
0.5 oz. Simple Syrup
Shake all ingredients over ice
Strain into a cocktail glass
Garnish with a lemon and a lime twist
(Optional garnish – dehydrated lemon instead)
4 oz. Fresh grated Ginger
750 mL of Vodka
Put all into a half-gallon jar
Store for 3-5 days, until it has enough ginger flavor for you
*Shake once daily*
Strain all the solids off
Enjoy your new vodka!!
Notes: This cocktail does everything right for the season. It’s crisp. It’s bright. It has just enough dryness off the PAMA, mixed with the citrus notes, and that nice amount of ginger. As always, if you desire more of something, just change the ratios. 2 ounces of Ginger vodka wouldn’t hurt anything, I just don’t like to put that much into each cocktail, personally.
Feel free to leave a comment on what you think about this cocktail, or if you make one, please share your experience here or on Facebook.
Enjoy! See ya next time! =]
