Mar(malade)-garita

Hey! This is something I had been toying with for a bit, and I figured since it would have been displayed on a menu downtown, that would be a great place to launch it into its prime. If you love brunch, but you’re tired of the mimosa and the bloody mary, then this is something you should DEFINITELY put on your list of things to make.

Here’s how it went down —

Mar(malade)-garita
1.5 oz. Silver Tequila (you COULD infuse it with some orange zest, but not necessary)
2 barspoons of Orange Marmalade
1 oz. Pink Grapefruit juice
0.75 oz. Lime Juice
0.25 oz. Simple Syrup
2 dsh Orange Bitters

Shake all ingredients over ice
Rim a pint glass in orange-flavored sugar
Fill pint with ice
Strain shaker over ice
Top it all off with a fat orange twist

Notes: This thing is perfect. If you like things that are not too much of any one flavor, this is for you. The citrus notes hit home, but do not overpower anything in any way. The orange flavor really is refreshing and plays well with the tequila. It has a lingering sweetness, but it doesn’t taste like juice. People who want an excuse to drink a margarita with breakfast should really give this a shot. =]

Feel free to leave a comment on what you think about this cocktail, or if you make one, please share your experience here or on Facebook.

Enjoy! See ya next time! =]
