Here we have a boomerang. Not really, it’s a cocktail. I just named it that. =]

I really wanted something smooth and savory, while also having the effect of not overwhelming too many tastebuds, so that it could be enjoyed over an entire meal, or would still maintain a likability throughout the course of having consecutive ones.

Here’s how it went down —

2 oz. Spiced Rum
1 oz. Fresh Cara Cara Orange juice
0.5 oz. Lime Juice
0.5 oz. Orange Blossom Honey Simple
0.5 oz. Egg Whites

Dry shake to incorporate egg whites
Add ice and shake again
Fill a collins glass with crushed ice
Strain into filled Collins
Garnish with a lime wheel

Notes: I sort of wrote a significant amount of notes BEFORE the drink, but I will say that the orange juice and the honey give it a brightness that makes for an interesting way to enjoy spiced rum. We’re not just pouring juice all over it, or mixing it with coca cola. I used Blackheart Spiced Rum, which is one of my personal favorites. Its mix of spices tend to have it taste a little sweeter, so we did not want to add EXTRA sugar. Putting in the honey gives it that different type of sweet that only honey can provide. I really hope you get a chance to experience this. Obviously, cara cara oranges don’t stay in season for long, but I think you could use some nectarines, or any other semi-sweet orange variant.

Enjoy! See ya next time! =]
