For some reason, everyone likes to describe things that have a moderate amount of spice as having a “kick.” So, I jumped on the bandwagon, and stole Dean Martin’s lyric for this Rum-based drink.
Let’s jump right into it, shall we?
Kick in the Head
1.5 oz. Aged Rum
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Chipotle-honey Syrup
Add all ingredients to shaker over ice
Rim rocks glass with chili lime salt
Fill with ice
Strain shaker into prepared rocks glass
Notes: This cocktail has a funny color, due to the spices we used in our chipotle-honey syrup. We were experimenting with a variety of things we had on hand, in an effort to enhance the overall flavor of the syrup. The honey added just the right amount of sweet to accompany the spiciness, and it all worked well with the citrus notes from the lemon juice. Overall, if you’re into spicy drinks, this is a nice twist as opposed to just using jalapenos. =]
