Alright, folks. A little smoke and spice to kick off the week!
Here’s how we did it —
To be or not Berbere
1.5 oz. Mezcal (We used La Luna Cupreata)
0.5 oz. Orange Curacao
0.5 oz. Benedictine
0.5 oz. Ancho Reyes
2 heavy pinches of Berbere
Stir all ingredients over ice
Strain into snifter
Garnish with pretty orange peel
Notes: Was taking a trip to the store, and saw the Berbere spice. Looked up what kind of flavors it goes with, and began researching a good way to use it. This turned out to be very delicious. It had good earthiness, and the herbal notes from the Benedictine was a welcome note. The longer it sat, the Berbere sort of sank to the bottom, so if you recreate it, make sure to keep it stirred up. =]
